Awarding of the Federal Cross of Merit for Dr. Ing. Hubert Büchs

Entrepreneur and Musician with Foresight

JOPP Managing Director Dr. Hubert Büchs and Professor Ernst Oestreicher, Head of the Vocational School for Music, are awarded the Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz).

With JOPP Managing Director Dr. Hubert Büchs an entrepreneur has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.

Professor Ernst Oestreicher, Head of the Vocational School for Music in Bad Königshofen, was also awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his achievements in music.
Both of them received the award from Parliamentary State Secretary (Staatssekretär) Gerhard Eck and Administrative District Officer (Regierungspräsident) Paul Beinhofer in a ceremony in the Bishop’s Palace in Wurzburg.

Award for Hubert Büchs
The laudatory speech stated that “Hubert Büchs has been involved in economic, cultural and social projects for over two decades”. He is the Managing Director of Jopp Holding GmbH, an automotive supplier, which develops and produces parts for well-known car manufacturers. The fortune of the company which is one of the most important employers in Lower Franconia, has been in Dr. Büchs’s hands since 1991. The corporate group is active throughout the world with ten sites and more than 1900 employees.

Apart from his entrepreneurial skills the 68-year-old has held offices on various boards of the Wurzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Industrie- und Handelskammer – IHK) since 1995. He has been a member of the IHK board for Rhön-Grabfeld as of 1995, including holding the position of deputy chairman from 1999 to 2006 and chairman from 2007 to 2014. He has also been a member of the expert committee of the Wurzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce and since 1995 has also been a member of the IHK Committee for Industry, Technology and Research where he held the position of deputy chairman from 2007 to 2010. Since 1994 he has acted as the spokesman for the Circle of Economic Information in Rhön Grabfeld (Informationskreis der Wirtschaft Rhön-Grabfeld) and helped promote professional training for young people.

CSU Regional Association for Mid-Sized Companies
With his many years of experience as an entrepreneur he helps act as a bridge for transferring technology and knowledge between the academic university and practical German entrepreneurism. As a member of the senate of the National Academy of Science and Engineering since 2008 he has been involved in communicating practical solutions to politicians and the general public.

Model Town for E-Mobility
In 2010 Dr. Büchs founded the “Model Town for E-Mobility in Bad Neustadt” association. As its chairman he promotes regional e-mobility. It is due to him that an endowed chair could be set up in 2012 at the “Technology Transfer Centre for E-Mobility in Bad Neustadt”. Furthermore he was involved in setting up the “State Technical College for Automotive Technology and E-Mobility”. As the spokesperson for the Expert Panel “E-Mobility for the Mainfranken Region” (Elektromobilität der Region Mainfranken GmbH) from 2011 to 2014 he was involved in the further development of regional e-mobility.

His involvement also covers cultural projects and sport. He supports the local art association in Bad Neustadt, is involved in the local motorsports club and helps finance the Hauenstein Mountain Rally (Hauenstein-Bergrennen). He also supports social projects as a member of the Lions Club in Bad Neustadt.
