Innovation Management

With its own in-house advance development department, the JOPP Group is continously working on forward-thinking product ideas and concepts. This results in innovative, highly integrated developments like the new modular shift tower. It integrates group-wide production technologies – offering customers a solution with weight and price advantages and at the same time providing sophisticated sensor-based functionality.

Furthermore, advance development deals with future business sectors in the JOPP Group. Issues in electric car technology are analyzed systematically and product ideas generated. Examples of this include heat management for battery and power electronics in electric vehicles. Highly integrated control units for cooling agents together with electrical pumps and control valves are also combined into one module to take account of the new requirements in electric vehicles and in addition concepts are being developed to cool electric motors in a directional manner via a lubrication system.

The basis for all developments are existing serial developments such as engine cooling systems, lubrication systems and various actuators as well as the in-house processing of plastics, production of powder metal parts and electronics, metalworking and assembly know-how.

Experience used innovatively: JOPP uses full-area contact between cooling plates and cell walls for effective heat regulation in lithium-ion cells.

In order to achieve high energy density, longevity, efficiency and safety, the temperature of lithium-ion cells must be controlled and regulated. JOPP makes use of its many years of experience in the design and manufacture of plastic pipes for a special heat connection concept: it works through full-area contact between the cell walls and cooling plates, which are cooled by liquid-filled plastic pipes.

Effective cooling: Sophisticated JOPP oil cooling systems for electric motors meet the highest demands and help to ensure peak performance.

The high demands on gravimetric and volumetric power density of the powertrain in e-vehicles require effective cooling of the electric motor to guarantee efficiency, longevity and peak performance at high speeds. JOPP tackles the heat generation in the copper windings, iron sheets and magnets. Our concept brings the cooling oil through spray heads directly into contact with the windings and iron sheets of the rotor and stator.

Absolute safety with maximum strain: our park lock actuators are always state-of-the-art –whether in DCT, automatic, hybrid or e-vehicle transmissions.

You can always rely on JOPP park lock actuators, whether they are electrohydraulically or electromechanically driven. The particularly light components have a very long lifetime due to the integrated steel, powder metal and plastic parts which are manufactured in-house by JOPP. Our strong parking brake systems lock reliably with a release load of up to 1,000 N in a temperature range of -40 °C to +140 °C.

The system is designed as "normally stay", can also be adapted to "normally closed" and "normally open". Protection class according to ISO 20653 (IP6K6K) must be agreed depending on the application.

Particularly in the field of e-mobility, the requirements for an intelligent, efficient and cost-effective thermal management system are very high. Because of their high-efficiency drivetrains, e-vehicles have little waste heat left for interior and battery. To ensure longevity and safety, the sensitive lithium-ion battery also allows only a narrow temperature range. Our system controls the temperatures reliably, whether for battery, electric motor, HV power electronics or interior - in every driving situation and ambient temperature.
