JOPP Commences Serial Production of In-House Sensor Solution

For many years JOPP has been supplying gearshift systems for all common types of transmission to the automotive industry. Unlike other suppliers JOPP placed an emphasis on creating the entire production chain, from in-house development to the manufacture of numerous individual components to full assembly. Commencing with the core competence of precision machined functional components made from metal and plastic the company has also enjoyed competence in electronics for many years. JOPP has thus also instigated several serial applications of solutions in sensor and gear recognition technology. A large project was concluded this year using a patented in-house gear recognition solution which recognizes the gears in real time. This allows automotive manufacturers to regulate the automatic start-stop function, among other things, in a variety of vehicles.

For the first time JOPP has now also placed an in-house sensor solution on the market which can function separately from the transmission. “New areas of growth where we were not previously present are required in order to respond to changing market conditions,” Managing Director Klaus Gockler declared. His colleague Martin Büchs also stated: “Sensor solutions are an ideal addition to our electronics business sector which already achieves almost EURO 20 million in revenues today. With our strength in producing manufacturing equipment we also possess the required expertise to utilize internal precision testing facilities which are necessary to measure sensitive sensor solutions.”

The new solutions will be installed in cars, sports vehicles and light commercial vehicles (LCVs). JOPP supplies its customers with pre configured magnetic sensor solutions which can be installed in vehicles without further testing. This eliminates many operating processes and test procedures on the premises of the automotive manufacturers and creates new possibilities to enhance driving comfort by using precision sensor technology.
