The Bavarian Employers’ Associations for the Metalworking and Electrical Industries (bayme vbm) organized their first employers’ meeting for this year in the Main and Rhön region in Bad Neustadt. The main focus was on the practical side of digitization. The first meeting point was in the BayernLab.
Michael Bischof, Managing Director of bayme vbm in Lower Franconia, was pleased with the considerable interest shown by the roughly 25 managing directors and executives who had followed his invitation. In his welcome speech he emphasized that each and every company must devise its own strategy for digitization if it did not wish to be left behind.
The BayernLab in Bad Neustadt is an initiative of the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance, Regional Development and Regional Identity (Bayerisches Staatsministerium der Finanzen, Landesentwicklung und Heimat). It is a center for digital knowledge creation and offers visitors hands-on demonstrations of the progress of digitization in both private and professional environments.
The guided tour through the BayernLab was conducted by the management of the facility, Roland Mai and Ralf Endres. They gave the participants space and time to try out various visions for the future and offered an excursion into virtual reality with VR glasses, for example, or a game in the “sandpit of the future”. There were also many tips on internet security (specifically protection against attacks by hackers).
The participants were then able to see in practice at the automotive supplier JOPP what they had seen in theory at the BayernLab.
Following a corporate presentation by the management there was a tour of several specialist areas with practical demonstrations of various digitization projects with special focus on the bi directional charging of electric vehicles, the development of a sensor system for the autonomous flight of a supplier drone, corporate group and global communication using a company’s management system, digital messaging of machine malfunctions and an assistant system for providing services using “smart glasses” with an integrated video system.
